Bush Rock

(IT-RO8308)

"Bush Rock" shows the Plant growing to new heights, while keeping their feet firmly rooted in a warm 70's roots vibe. Standout tracks "Too Much Gun a Bust" & "Got To Be a Soldier" include powerful heart wrenching vocals reminiscent of the greats like Jacob Miller & Joe Higgs. Bush Rock is a well rounded reggae/dub excursion and features both heavy dub tracks and silky sweet songs like the Melodica driven "Machete Strike". Be on the lookout for 10 Ft. dates near the end of 2009!

Side A 1. Machete Strike, 2. Soon Come, 3. Too Much Gun A Bust, 4. Cool and Collect, 5. 10 Ft. Ganja Plant & Weed

Side B: 6. Bush Rock, 7. Head Shrinker, 8. Wailin', 9. Set Me Free, 10. Got To Be A Soldier, 11. The Cyclops

A few quotes:

"...a celebration of deep, dark, 1970s-style roots reggae." - All Music Guide

"Modern roots reggae of the highest order." - The Wire

"Over they years they've managed to build a sound all their own while remaining true to the foundational elements that make roots music such a nurturing, cleansing experience- they've captured a sound as original and good as the Jamaican classics they emulated in the beginning of their career. Sit back and take a draw: this 10 Ft. Ganja Plant is -the kind.'" - The Beat

Hillside Airstrip

(IT-RO8270)

This is the latest and greatest from the Ganja Plant.  Proudly released on Reach Out International Records (ROIR) in conjunction with I-Town Records- with JAH in full control!  From the first note of "Long Time Ago" to the last Hard Dubbing Echoes of "New Day" this recording is bubbling over with true rasta vibes.  It includes two tracks from the previously released PRESENTS and nine brand new tracks.  Recorded at Mang Studio in the original Mang format as usual with many musicians stopping in to add to the sound... there's quite a crop here for the enjoyment of all!

ROIR Says:

"Hillside Airstrip is as captivating and soulful a reggae album as has come out in a long time. From passionate rootical vibes to heavy dub, this record will make believers out of their new and ever growing fan base. Seriously considered by their peer group as an emerging and significantly innovative band with a distinctive voice in the reggae community. To get that old school feel, all tracks have been recorded live and then voiced and taken from their original analog masters."

CMJ Says:

"Hailing from upstate New York, this intriguing reggae collective is named in homage to Jamaica's own version of amber waves. The musicians in this posse have connections to other U.S. reggae groups, a few members having performed most notably as part of John Brown's Body and Tribulations. Serving up deep authentic reggae heavy on the vibes, 10 Ft. Ganja Plant is basically a delightful anachronism, performing in such a delightfully retro way that it's actually hard imagine that these tracks aren't 20 or 30 years old. As such, they're something of a reggae analog to modern day soul/funk purveyors like Lee Fields, the Soul Providers, and the Daktaris. They show their reverence for the music of the past by doing their homework, learning the skills and playing it very much in the now.
