Bert Scholl - Letters to the Prison City

Bert Scholl's deep resonant voice singing out heartfelt lyrics has resulted in a record born out of western tradition, living for today. Receiving a strong calling from Waylon, Willie, Johnny, and others among the living and the Dead, Letters to the Prison City continues down that long highway telling tales of yesterday and today.

Letters to the Prison City is driven by an earnest rhythm section with guest performer Nate Richardson (of the Sim Redmond Band) on the standup bass and Bert on rhythm guitar. The powerful, burning mandolin licks of Matt Gronquist and the sweet, hot fiddle playing of Ben Smith (formerly of Cletus and the Barn Burners) gives Letters to the Prison City the powerful yet intimate feeling Bert's music is known for. On top of a few songs floats the pure sounds of guest performer Sandy Watson's steel guitar as well as occasional three part harmonies that complete the records rich and passionate sound.
