Crow Greenspun was one of five longhaired and dirty children raised without television in the hills around Ithaca NY. His family has lived in everything from shacks to boathouses to tin roofed sheds. Home-schooled, he and his siblings spent their formative years largely uninfluenced by corporate media. They relied on their rural surroundings and imaginations for entertainment and became creative thinkers.

Originative aptitude is evidentin Crow's songcraft, as well as a regard for American folk, rock, soul, and hip hop traditions, and the ability to combine words and music with fully realized intent. His writing is clear, vivid, autobiographical, narrative and candid. Recurring themes in his work are: family, honesty, trial, honor, discipline, forgiveness, morality, non-conformity, fate, love, and loss. His music is insightful and endearing in its sincerity.
