Roots Roxbury

Roots Roxbury is due out in September on Itown Records. David is currently in full production at Solid Studios in Newfield, NY. The music is a wonderful blend of funk/groove/dub/afro/jazz. The initial sessions for this record were recorded in 1998 in Roxbury, MA at 51 Amory St, the original location for Solid Studios (see website for photos) The project was put on hold for a few years as David's energy shifted towards being on the road and recording with John Brown's Body. Finally, after some more recording and production in 2003-2004, this music will become available. David will be bringing this music to the stage coming up in late summer 2004. Check out the calender on his website for future dates.

The cast of musicians on Roots Roxbury includes:

David Gould- bass, percussion, vocals, keys, production, Bill King- drums (Hank Roberts Group), Brian Wilson- drums (Johnny Dowd, The Mofos), Tommy Benedetti- drums (John Brown's Body), Cable Griffith- guitar (Board of Ed), Jaakim Haltom- vocals, congas, flute (Oculus), Ken Field- alto sax, flute (Board of Ed, Revolutionary Snake Ensemble, Crown Electric Company, Birdsongs of the Mesozoic), Marc Caughill- bari sax (Board of Ed, Crown Electric Company), Marc Berney- trumpet (Skatalites, Klezmer Conservatory), Paul Merril- trumpet (formerly of John Brown's Body), Marc Chillemi- trumpet (formerly of Babaloo)
